Whether in stock, or just streaming in store, we’ve got you covered with real, human-generated recommendations straight from the store stereo. We do not receive anything if you buy. All recommendations are our own. (This for fun!)

FOR FANS OF: lofi, bedroom pop, psych, power pop, 90s indie, shoegaze, diy punk

Who says shoegaze means doom and gloom? Baltimore’s Dummy certainly doesn’t think so. [this is an example of a more generalized lead / hook that would work. Shouldn’t be long, but def a grabber for those who don’t know the band and so you aren’t super abrupt in your opening. PLEASE WRITE ANOTHER ONE TO YOUR LIKING AND INSERT].

The band’s new single, “Mono Retriever / Pepsi Vacuum”, tempers shoegaze yearnings with a sunnier ambience, striking a tight balance between softness and skronk. Meanwhile, indie psych elements resonate like glimmering waves at the edge of the horizon.

To say Dummy have roots in Baltimore’s indie scene would be an understatement: members Joe and Nathan hail from the halcyon era that brought us bands like Beach House, Wye Oak, Double Dagger, and, more recently, Turnstile & Snail Mail. What’s more, their 2010s project, Wildhoney, became icons for their expansive “wall of sound” style of shoegaze.

Now, after a stint in the Cali sun, the band have added a unique breath and spark to their big pop sound. The result is pure elation, a stunning new work rife with dysmorphic levity.

Listen below and keep an eye out for their upcoming Bmore appearance in August. Between hometown darlings Smoke Bellow and Posmic (plus Chicago’s, Lifeguard), it’s a scorching night of indie, indeed!
