Tall Dwarfs – Short and Sick of It

Whether in stock, or just streaming in store, we’ve got you covered with real, human-generated recommendations straight from the store stereo. We do not receive anything if you buy. All recommendations are our own. (This for fun!)

Extreme oddballs, even among the out-there experimentalists Flying Nun (The Clean, The Bats, etc), ’80s New Zealand act Tall Dwarfs weren’t just lords of lo-fi: their far-out experiments at the edges of indie are the only reason acts like Neutral Milk Hotel and Modest Mouse exist.
At times, they edge court bizarre, John Lennon-style psych; other tunes give the outsider antics of Daniel Johnston a real run. There’s really no safe descriptor — these guys are all over the place — so suffice it to say Tall Dwarfs is one of the most uniquely inspired, and wildly interesting acts to EVER weird out.
This CD/Tape-only mix from the early nineties combines the act’s most impressive eps, has never been reissues, and is, at the moment, a loving AO exclusive. Go get the group’s many other albums (and prepare to trip on ever after).
