Lil’ Wayne’s Carter series may be an international super-seller (a hip-hop dynasty all its own), but for my money, the mischievously wild rapper’s mixes are infinitely more interesting. Dangerously prolific, this master of the mixtape is less guarded on here, spitting fire while indulging his goofy and experimental sides in ways he can’t on an album. Drop-ins from Drake, Rick Ross and Chance the Rapper round things out nicely, making the mix feel like the intimate affair it is.
