Some bitter intangible haunts the melancholy country blues of Jackson C, Frank. Recognizable allusions to contemporaries like Bob Dylan and Leonard Cohen surface throughout his sole LP’s bittersweet ballads, but the yearning, the unadulterated dust-bowl soul, remains his and his alone.
