Janes Addiction – “Jane Says”

Whether in stock, or just streaming in store, we’ve got you covered with real, human-generated recommendations straight from the store stereo. We do not receive anything if you buy. All recommendations are our own. (This for fun!)
Pausing for a moment to acknowledge the excesses, the ridiculousness, and absurdity of radio rock in the late 80s and early ’90s, we find that some songs emerge from that gauntlet unscathed, even as their makers become ugly. “Janes Says” (infinitely better in this popular live version), is more than an alt-rock landmark, it’s a mainstream infiltration by subversive elements.
The band takes its theme from the life of a very real, abused addict struggling with both internal and external abuse. It’s raw honesty in engaging the cylical nature of addiction and abuse is somber and compassionate while ultimately capturing the tragedy of a life lived in stais.
