A Velvet Underground Family Tree
March 26, 2014
The Velvet Underground Tree from Tony J. Neal on 8tracks Radio.
As the house band of artist Andy Warhol’s infamous Factory studio, the Velvet Underground were bred ground-up for later infamy and influence. While the group was long considered rock’s dark horse — a sore throat on the hippie’s movement’s stoned reverie — the each album helped established a base from which to launch the ’70s battered souls. Glam, punk, metal, noise and the avant garde — all owe the band influence, making this family tree an undeniably wide and eclectic one.
