Elevating synth-ridden glitch to the level of high art, Daniel Lopatin builds upon the repetitions of Steve Reich and Philip Glass in crisp, frenetic electronic orchestrations. Lopatin’s is a world of brisk, pristine, springlike machinations, where organic life dances into and out of rain-forests of pure, unadulterated electricity. While this Record Store Day release doesn’t reach the epic heights of last year’s LP, it’s still an impressive study in abstract ambience. This was released as a 12inch in honor of Record Store Day. So, once you’ve sampled it, please do go out and support your local record store. They are awesome.
