Whether reveling in doom, gloom, metal, indie, folk or otherwise, longtime Japanese icons Boris maintain a regality and grandeur in their overwhelmingly dark aesthetic. More varied, and at times accessible, than other recent releases, Noise defies its title, finding stark beauty and melody in the ashes. Intense at times, the album none the less roves that darkness and light aren’t opposites. THey are interconnected inverses of one another.
